About HIGH AND DRY
High and Dry Lodge is located in a small village in front of the Great Himalayan National Park. Built fittingly out of stone exteriors, wood and cob interiors, the property is perched on the edge of a deodar forest, in the middle of apple orchards! Additionally, the property lies at an altitude of over 1960m (6500 ft), far away from the crowds of Tirthan valley, the perfect choice for those who want to escape modern civilization and rejuvenate in pristine natural surroundings.
The hosts have been successful in providing employment to local village folk as cooks, caretakers, gardeners and the like. The hosts have also been responsible for creating change in their surroundings by planting more trees, preventing the spread of forest fires and promoting “Green Tech” in the Himalayas. Additionally, the hosts promote healing physically or mentally-challenged persons with forest bathing through their nature healing programmes!

High and Dry Lodge boasts of peaceful surroundings and exclusivity from city life. It is therefore ideal for families, couples and solo travelers. Artists, musicians, yoga enthusiasts, bibliophiles and hikers alike can enjoy the offerings of the valley.
WHAT TO EAT
Healthy, homely food will be prepared by the host family. Traditional Indian food is what is usually prepared but on request European food with herbs and real cheese can be cooked too. Non-vegetarians can try mutton or local trout fish from the Tirthan river (at an additional cost). Breakfasts are usually Indian or Continental.
WHAT TO DO
The village bordering the lodge showcases typical Himalayan architecture and way of life. One can take a walk around the village, play cricket with the local kids, churn buttermilk with the women of the house, converse with the friendly locals and explore their farms. There are also numerous picturesque hiking trails, bird watching spots, sunset spots, etc.
ABOUT THE PLACE
High and Dry Lodge has two double rooms with attached bathrooms and provision for an extra bed each. The home is done up with earthy colors of wood and green plants with numerous windows which allows for a cozy, well ventilated ambience. Access to the dining and living room areas, a mini-library, a digital piano, a Spanish guitar are all facilities available to guests. The property is open all year.
