About OASIS near COORG

Set in the hills of the Western Ghats, the plantation and homestay is nestled within 24 acres of a certified organic farm. It offers a chance to explore the unique biodiversity and landscape of the Western Ghats in Coorg. This region is known for its soft rolling hills, where lush tropical rainforests are wedged between rich grassland and fertile valleys. These tropical rainforests harbour a stunning array of life forms (many of which are seen nowhere else on the planet).

Be prepared to witness in marvel a magnificent Champaka tree right as you enter the property, whose age is set to be about 1500 years! During the summer rains, the entire tree gets covered with millions of fireflies, making this a unique and unmissable experience. The hosts are extremely mindful of not only the beauty of their surroundings, but are also aware of its fragile state and the need for preservation of the same. They thus try to find a balance between bringing back the forest while also practising sustainable agriculture.

For WHOM?

The place is meant for those who appreciate simplicity, greenery, clean air, fresh water, long quiet walks, lingering meals and a beautifully orchestrated song of birds, cicadas and frogs.

WHAT TO EAT

Thosts themselves prepare and offer a spread of sumptuous food that is clean, hygienic and simple. The hosts are quite innovative with creating dishes from what they have in the pantry. The food is mostly homegrown produce found on the property and only pure vegetarian food is served. You can also be sure that those ingredients that are not grown in house are procured from other organic farms.

WHAT TO DO

The property allows you to experience a rainforest plantation where organic agriculture and nature co-exist. You can witness traditional hands on practices on the farm including the cultivation and processing of coffee, tea and other spices. The area is also ideally situated to explore unique grassland and rainforests. You could choose to have a guided walk to visit the sacred grove or explore the many trails around the property themselves. The area is also home to over 200 species of birds, so it is ideal for birdwatchers. Interestingly, you can even learn to grow their own food by working on the farm and also participate in various farm activities such as tea picking, coffee picking, vegetable gardening and even taking the cows out grazing!

ABOUT THE PLACE

The rooms are set in the coffee estate under rainforest trees. All the rooms come with a lovely view of the lush natural surroundings. Each of the rooms comes with a verandah and a wooden attic. There are two cottages that consist of two separate rooms with an attached Western style bathroom. They are situated at the edge of the hill and overlook spectacular valleys with beautiful paddy fields. There is also a cottage that can house at least five people and is surrounded by coffee and banana trees.
