This cottage stay is located, quite perfectly, away from the hustle-bustle, and it’s the perfect getaway where you can find yourself amidst nature and can truly enjoy all the beautiful sights Pahalgam is famous for. The host, who lives in Srinagar, inherited the property from her grandfather, who had the cottages built in the 1970s, and she has maintained and taken care of the two cottages very well over the years.
At Cabins in the Clearing, you can enjoy the soft warm sun, clear blue skies, crisp mountain breeze, and undulating meadows of green with grazing horses. The red roofed-cottages with wooden exteriors – framed by dense forests and snow clad mountains on one side and a river gushing by – truly give a European feel.Region

The cabins are ideal for both nature and adventure lovers. People who enjoy peace and calm away from crowds will find this place perfect to catch up on their reading, yoga or meditation. Small groups, families and couples who enjoy the simple life will find the space adequate and comfortable.
WHAT TO EAT
One can grab meals at the several restaurants in the main market area of Pahalgam. Meat lovers would absolutely enjoy the selection of Wazwan and Kashmiri Pulao. Also, don’t miss out on the delectable phirni or kheer (sweet dish).
On the property, one can expect simple home cooked meals which will be a relief from all the rich Kashmiri food one will end up gorging on. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are available. One just needs to tell the caretaker in advance, and the meals are then prepared.WHAT TO DO
Once at the cabins, one can plan activities around the river. It will be difficult to turn down the constant invitation of the river to meet you on her banks as she boisterously makes her way. Make the most of it – have your meals beside her while you soak in the soft sun. Play with her waves. Wonder at the surf as it tries to get you as you cross the wooden bridge. And get lost in the music of lilting bells around the resident cows as they lazily graze around.
There are also beautiful, easy to hike forest trails, so one can go for long walks through majestic deodar (cedar) forests towards nearby Gujar villages – . Snow capped mountains will be just an arms reach away. Have long leisurely chats with the caretakers, they have wonderful stories to tell! One can also choose to enjoy barbeque around a lively bonfire.it
ABOUT THE PLACE
Cabins in the Clearing consists of two cottages, set at a short distance from each other so guests can enjoy their privacy. The main cottage has two rooms, two bathrooms, a large, fully functional kitchen, a living room and a small porch/ sit out area where one can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee taking in gorgeous views of the river on one side, and snow capped mountains on the other.
The other cottage is a little more basic. It also has two rooms, with a shared bathroom and overlooks the river. The staff are very helpful and have their home next to the main cottage, which is easily accessible to the guests.HOW TO REACH?
